Learning to row in Cambridge

Whether you’re new to Cambridge or you have lived here a while, it’s always a good time to learn to row and enjoy this unique river.

Chesterton Rowing Club provides the opportunity to join in this fantastic sport. There are a number of good reasons to choose Chesterton Rowing Club when learning to row in Cambridge.

What makes Chesterton Rowing Club unique?

Most importantly, we aim to get new rowers in a boat quickly, usually within a couple of weeks, rather than waiting for a whole crew of beginners to form before starting training. We usually place beginners in a crew with more experienced rowers and a coach. This way, you’ll quickly progress to become a competent rower.

Secondly, we understand that people have busy lives. We won’t expect you to get up at 5am; the majority of our sessions take place in the evenings after work or at weekends.

Chesterton Rowing Club is relaxed and friendly. We cater for both men and woman at all levels of involvement and athleticism. We aim to be inclusive and are keen for everyone to enjoy the sport. Having said that, we are also a competitive club, entering boats into each division of the Cambridge Town Bumps along with races on and off the Cam throughout the year.
